What is expected of a member?
Role To enrich the musical and social experience of members of the Society
and the local community by making an enthusiastic commitment to the
performance of a wide range of choral music.
Responsibilities
- Attend enough rehearsals to be adequately prepared for public
performance.
- Learn familiar and unfamiliar music with enthusiasm and commitment.
- Be concerned to promote the musical excellence of the Society by
giving high quality performances.
- Be responsible for numbered items of music on loan from libraries,
publishers or the school, and replace or reimburse the lenders in case
of loss or damage.
- Return promptly all borrowed items of music as requested by the
librarian.
- Buy or sell a minimum of 2 tickets per concert.
- Actively help promote the financial health of the Society.
- Employ personal interests, skills and contacts to support the Society.
Annual Membership Fees
For new members in their first year the fee is currently £50, which is
half the usual annual membership fee.
Thereafter, an annual membership fee of £100 is payable each year. This
is due at the start of the autumn term and covers three major concerts
and the Christmas concert. The membership fee is set each year by the
committee and approved at the AGM.
In cases of financial hardship the committee may be able to assist in
meeting the cost of membership fees. Enquiries in this regard should be
made to the treasurer and will be considered on a case by case basis.
Support for Members
The membership secretary is responsible for welcoming new members,
supporting members by providing information about the Society and its
activities, and encouraging new membership.
